It's Raining, It's Pouring, The Old Man is Snoring

Well, there hasn't been much letup in the Spring rains we've been having this week. Everything is grey and rather miserable. Not much to do but stay indoors, eat, sleep and try to keep yourself entertained.

I've been listening to these three albums (see below) a lot lately. They all have a rough, lo-fi sound to them although the styles are different. Career Suicide reminds me of 80's style hardcore like Black Flag "Damaged". Cloak/Dagger is a great jangly punk release out on Jade Tree Records. The Red Dons album is just simple punk rock, with an emphasis on rock. A little understated, but an album that has really grown on me. I suspect these three albums were recorded in a more old-school, perhaps analog way. They sound more honest, not ov
er-compressed like half the stuff coming out recently.

Yes, reading Mercy Amongst the Children at the moment. Enjoying it so far, but the main character is so frustrating. I wish he would stand up for himself!
